The Latest Greatest Facade

governments, institutions and others often have to “project” that they are “doing” something. for example, you may go into a doctor’s office with a cut requiring stitches. immediately, a nurse will take your vitals- your temperature and blood pressure. voilà, it looks like you are getting medical care!

doctors, at times, not having a crystal ball, may dance with their patients in conversation. this tango offers some intimacy but has which has no medical value. it, however, looks like medicine. the patient leaving can at least attest that they “spoke” to their doctor as they were twirled out of the examining room as the doctor searches out their next partner. the same is true with the legal profession. when a client makes the time to come for an appointment, a lawyer may feel obligated to make the visit worthwhile. admittedly, i have had these moments. i spend the time reviewing the client’s legal file with them so that they are aware of their case’s status. i might even give an impromptu legal lecture. this, though helpful to the client, is not legal work that will advance their case. often organizations also engage in this nonsense. they will create committees to address matters; or they appoint czars. these steps look good but many times accomplish nothing.

one of my clients described these actions as a “facade”. a facade is “an outward appearance that is maintained to conceal a less pleasant or creditable reality.”

a breitbart news account captured the latest greatest facade. in the “tree of life” mass murder case, the federal government pursued the death sentence for the convicted murderer. to do so, the federal prosecutors taxed the court system and subjected the families and victims of the mass murderer to obtain a death sentence.

this event was a facade based upon the fact that breitbart noted that “in july 2021, attorney general merrick garland imposed an execution moratorium, in line with biden’s campaign promise to end the federal death penalty.” in sum, the death sentence, at least as long as mr. biden is in office, will never happen. in light of that, why was it pursued in the first place? f-a-c-a-d-e.

mr. biden, in his next campaign, will likely stand up on a stage and tell any and everyone who will listen that his was the administration that brought justice to the jewish community for “tree of life” murders. news organizations, such as the jta, will report, as they already have, as follows: that biden administration obtained “the maximum punishment for the deadliest antisemitic attack in american history.” jta.org

certainly, the “tree of life” death penalty quest was kabuki theater. per jta.org, “the gunman’s lawyers had not contested his guilt but argued that the act was a result of his mental illness and did not merit a death sentence.”

in sum, the ten commandments project’s own psychic cat will likely be posting a “i told you so” come election time.
