A week ago, I raged. With my mind filled with anger, I braced down for my head to explode and unleash a mushroom cloud of mental toxicity. This ire drawn from the many crazy biting news stories. Some apparently drew my soul’s blood. In desperation, I reached out to find my poisonous pen, the snake venom antidote to cure me. Oh, to be a Keyboard Warrior!
All worked up and with my fingers and mind ready to slay, I paused to seek serenity. I reminded myself of my “Terms of Enragement”. Just as in the original Top Gun’s dog fighting finale, Maverick initially refused to engage in combat when it didn’t seem right.
Blogging with followers receiving each and every post is markedly different than my professional blog. My professional blog is a come when you want to.
When writing with blog followers, there are consequences with acting unbecoming. Writing out of frustration risks abandoning the commitment to generating meaningful and lasting content. Outbursts can be bad policy. Not everyone loves to hear bitching, moaning, and perhaps pettiness.
Exercising or exorcising out the frustration, however, was necessary. I wrote some stuff to work out the anger. While doing so, my thumbs and fingers, however, kept their distance from the “publish” icon; the forbidden zone.
After an extended period of controlling both my tongue and my upper extremities, my mind calmed. A flash of enlightenment gently planted itself into my grey matter. “Why did those articles grind my gears?” I asked.
Most commonly, I realized that the articles fail to take into account all of the facts. People often go off a pool’s deep end of news reporting when the writer does not provide sufficient water.
While patients looking for answers search out second opinions, journalists today have oftened abandoned that notion. Their foolishness or dishonesty turns me a “Hulk Green”; the CGI green rather the Lou Ferrigno-like Hulk green.
Finally at peace, I get back to the mission with this Post as my new Post-Idea. For this Blog, I remain committed to provoke of thought, debate and emotion. This Blog, however, is not about being merely reactionary but rather to be a source of action. Thus, rather than take the time to slam, excoriate, smash and hammer those who don’t get it right, I am more than happy to focus on producing timeless content. I would rather spend my time to educate than infuriate. If one reader would search out and read each and every post, that would be sufficient. I will take a victory lap rather than serving as a source of upset.
To twist the words of the great comedian Jerry Stiller, “serenity how?”
Be well!!
