A “May Day”with The Two Dummies: Going Postal In…You Know the Month

May’s postal panic arose from a tale of two dummies. Last month, two very real ducks and landed me in hot water. While intended to be an excellent vehicle illustrating the expertise controversy, the story led to some unintended consequences.

The Expert

The study of expertise was part of my undergraduate studies. There is some science surrounding the designation of “expert.” Expertise develops when the human mind creates elevated connections in a subject matter. For example, a chess master can see multiple moves on the board in advance of them being played.

Becoming an expert takes time and devotion. Ten years of full-time study on a particular subject is considered a benchmark for becoming an expert.

The notion of “expert” opinion recently sparked a viral social media debate. Journalist Douglas Murray squared off against Joe Rogan and Comedian Dave Smith on the topic. My post, which appreciated Mr. Murray’s comment, may have irked Rogan podcast followers.

The Debacle?

After the posting, I noticed a precipitous subscriber drop on one of my many devices. Did I offend my Rogan fans?

Matters got even worse. Early mornings, when coming out of my driveway to go to work, the two ducks started blocking me. It was the two dummies! They move up the road to our house two ducks. They even side-eyed me. Had these ducks read my two dummies post as well?

In a strange karma-like fashion, did I offend the animal kingdom? I wanted to cry fowl. After all, in the story, they turned out not to be so bird-brained. Their behavior was actually found to be quite intelligent.

Despite this panic, life moved on. I re-checked out my subscription numbers and they weren’t so bad. The results appeared to be different from my other device. Everything was copacetic. No worry was necessary.

Later, I ran into my next-door neighbor. After complaining to her about the drake and his hen’s road blocking, she enlightened me of the couples’ true motives. The two had taken residence in her magnificent swimming pool!

With this, I concluded that the facts causing my postal-inducing paranoia for May appeared to be greatly overrated.

May Postings

May was a surprising month. While personal business matters took priority, I was still able to churn out a healthy number of posts.

These are my brief thoughts for each May post:

Are there some things that we don’t understand? Can certain things be nonsensical? This post reflects upon this scriptural phenomena.

Do people actually read articles and get to the facts? Or, do they take in the captions, headlines, photos and sound bites to gain understanding?

In San Diego, I saw this sculptured quote. Sometimes, venturing outside one’s element can inspire content.

Should holiness be something that gives people purpose in life?

This post speculates on: “How broken can a society become?” and “Can it reach a point where people cannot discern good from evil?”

Is the scriptural imposition of the death penalty intended to shock the psyche?

Professionally, I give out advice. Thus, my record of accurate predictions is occupationally essential. In this post, my alter ego- the Psychic Cat of Westwood Village- scratches out a clairvoyant post success.

Douglas Murray’s On Democracies is a book you need to put down. The factual details of what transpired on October 7, are infuriating. It is difficult to go through the various happenings on that day without taking a pause. Mr. Murray traveled to the region and his interactions with a large variety of individuals makes it a rich read.

Is the purpose of the commandments a good life?

Being correct does not necessarily being of influence. Many have repeatedly decried the increasing destructive rhetoric throughout the United States. Unfortunately, the chickens have come to roost.

In the ongoing series on the Health Insurance dilemma, a medical provider is featured. It details how his corruption impacts healthcare. His specialty was labeling his patients sick to get rich.

Is the Torah involved to “Human Engineering”? Can a humanity be legislated into a superorganism?

Be well!!
