“All creative work is derivative”
Nina Paley
Thanks to the great artist Nina Paley, I consider myself a creator. After exploring through others’ work, hopefully I am able to produce a new derivative nugget. The reality is that inventive tools and past accumulated knowledge fuel creative work.
Blogging solo also involves another level of creativity. With limited human feedback, I have come to rely on AI. While my writings are original, this one-man band uses Artificial Intelligence for improved quality and productivity. My editor is AI, my illustrator is AI, and my reading grade determiner is AI. This June, I another AI assistant had been added.
It all started with an inadvertent month of June “mouse click.” Fortunately, it created only a micro-second of a postal panic. Typically, deleted files and catastrophic edits happen when my untrained typing fingers misstep. In business and in pleasure, there have been some adventures in both keyboarding and mouse play.
Last month, I slipped and clicked on a mysterious box on my screen. Ouch! Reflexively, I went postal. This rage ended almost instantaneously when the program started filling in the blanks. My eyes lit up as if I hit triple 7’s on the one-armed bandit! A nirvana-like state entered my body. There was something I was too lazy to do that was now achievable.
My WordPress Page had filled up with amazing content. My inadvertent click generated SEO boxes to fill up. The “generate metadata” button turned out to be awesome and not a launch button for a ballistic missle. Given the fact that I would have never done this metadata work, it is a total bonus. AI, you’re hired! Again, for another take of course!
As a semi-orthodox luddite, I had ignored the new feature. While I love computers, any innovation is met with great hesitation. I feared the button; I couldn’t predict the click. Given my imperfect track record, I am completely risk averse. As a prior post documented, I am the guy who still occasionally gets his AI feedback en Espanol! This time, however, Jetpak did a solid.
Creative SEO instructions came from the Jetpak AI application. Amazingly, over the years, I have paid well into the six figures to have this done on my business website. Now, this creativity, is a mouse click away.
June’s Reality
The world can be a much bigger place than the blogosphere. With heightened global conflict, everybody’s eyeballs are directed to the news. For those who do not blog on current events, these are the unplanned moments which impact traffic.
These moments are challenging. There is a difference from making emotional remarks versus informed opinions. During the conflict, I found a number of military commentators who brought amazing insight into the events. The big takeaway is that the real world addresses physical realities while the internet world of talking heads ignores them.
June’s Posts
The first post was for Shavuot. Celebrating the receipt of the Torah represents a big blog event.
This post tackles the reality of Torah authorship. The Five Books of Moses’ content suggests a unique mindset. Thus, the question posed by the post is “what were the thoughts and beliefs of the Torah’s author?”
I hypothesize that antiquity’s civilization is much like the present day. Cities have the same problems and work with the same solutions.
I posit that certain institutions and concepts from the past have merely been reformulated. The Nazarite oath is one of them. Is this oath is in part something that has carried into the present? Are institutions that advocate abstinence, i.e. Alcoholics Anonymous really a continuation of the Nazarite oath? Likewise, was this oath originally instituted in part to address those suffering from alcoholism?
Sometimes, I say :OMG, this is just like in the movies!”
This notion, this post addressed movies that are shaping are reality. For a long time, I the Matrix was the number one position. With AI, another movie took the top spot. I consider them as important as the book, The Language Police by Diane Ravitch.
I believe in institutional jiu jitsu. Organizational segments will react to regain power and relevance when threatened. This phenomena is reflected within the Torah Portion.
Laws are expressions of values. This post asks “what values do the Ten Commandments project?”
Hebrew Bible passages should never be looked at in isolation. In this instance, a group’s exclusion from the famous botched spy mission raises greater scriptural issues.
Themes play throughout the Hebrew Bible. This post addresses leadership.
The Ten Commandments’ posting in public schools is soon to be an issue of judicial review. Thus, a secular explanation as to which Decalogue version should be posted must be made. This post explains that a particular version served as a historical reference source.
Be well!!
