Going Postal at the Department of Motor Vehicles? A September to Remember

A mundane banking transaction became troubling. My longtime bank teller succumbed to a bout of prosopagnosia. My drivers’ license had expired and I was sans identification. She could not recognize me. I became a non-entity. Despite ample funds, the transfer would have to wait. We laughed.

The next day, I went on-line to obtain a replacement card. I inputted my two decades’ old data. Upon completion, I received a DMV appointment to obtain the new card.

Upon arriving at the Department of Motor Vehicles, their reputation held serve. It had a Goldilock’s queue – can’t be too early or too late. This line, ironically, was the line to get into the actual line. Thus, within a distinct designated time period, I got the ticket into the next queue. Shortly after, my ticket number flashed on the screen. I met with the elderly clerk who reviewed my DMV file and verified the online data.

“There is a problem”, she told me. I panicked. She continued. “Your hair is not brown, it is gray!” She then forced me to personally make the changes on a computer screen.

I testily queried: “what if I was bald? What would you have done?” She answered, “Oh, we have a special code for that, ‘BA’!” We laughed.

In my flaky California, how dare they assign me a hair color! After all, I have identified as a brown haired person all my life. Despite the state’s extreme liberalism, my feelings were discarded like the dust at the bottom of a cereal box. With a whimper, I ever so mildly went postal! For my next renewal, I am donning a rainbow wig!

The Posts

Blogging requires background prep. This includes reading a multitude of content for ideas. Likewise, the craft of writing must be pursued. With this post, I was able to weave philosophy, religion and psychology into one piece.

This is a worrisome time for bloggers and content creators. Low effort content is exploding. Serious blog posts are lost in a tsunami of slop. The extraneous content is from both AI and mass posting. Blog visibility is becoming a serious concern.

During this rapid increase, I have become contrarian. Time constraints, quality content, and great topics took priority. Also, customer service matters. I don’t want to clog subscribers’ email boxes with nonsense. Over time, followers expect to receive a meaningful four minute reads.

The Torah’s “Chosen People” concept is perhaps the wildest. There are many misconceptions surrounding it. As I was taught, the idea was simple. It was that the Jewish People were charged with advancing the Torah’s values, morals and teachings to the world. This post discusses this issue.

For the most part, people always have a “reason” for their actions. Whether the reason is right, correct or moral is not relevant. Rather, in their mind, they have made a thoughtful decision. This phenomena is perhaps is humanity’s most dangerous aspect. Often, what is good for the individual, is not healthy for the community.

This post was in response to the tragedy of Charlie Kirk’s assassination.

The Torah’s collectivism theme continued throughout the Hebrew Bible. All individuals were have knowledge of the law and their rights. Certain words in this passage on collectivism may have also touched on another theme of unity.

The High Holiday Torah Portion selections were brilliantly selected. At a time when family get together to start a new year and atone, family conflict tales are apropos.

Citizenry’s education with the Hebrew Bible is a fascinating topic. With so many reported lapses, a fair question is whether the pedagogy of dispensing the law and scripture was effective. Based upon the data, regional literacy appeared to increase beginning at the time of the Greek occupation of the Levant. At that time, society’s Torah compliance behavior increased.

Be well!!
