Suddenly, The Truth Matters?

In March of 2022, a Democrat President’s Supreme Court Justice Nominee was asked a simple question. In her confirmation hearing, she was asked to define the word “woman”. The nominee answered, “I can’t.” Politico.com

Two years later, in October of 2024, Former President Barack Obama lectured African American men about the 2024 Presidential Campaign. He observed: “you aren’t feeling the idea of having a woman as president.” Politico.com

How can one reconcile these two exchanges? How can the same party who can’t define what a woman is tell you to vote for a woman? The answer is quite simple. The “truth” is not a leftist value. Leftism values “power” over the “truth”.

As the two passages illustrate, the “truth” of who is a woman suddenly known at the time of an election. When they are playing identity politics to gain power, a “fact” is a “fact.”

On the other hand, Leftists are all too comfortable employing lies for the purposes of acquiring power. The obfuscation of sexuality and gender was done for the purposes of advancing power to the left. Recently, there is a news story which illustrates the point on a most controversial of topics.

A $10 Million Dollar taxpayer funded study was conducted on the effects of puberty blockers. Dr. Olson-Kennedy, the person in charge of the study, has refused to issue the result of the study. She reportedly fears that it would be used for political purposes. According to the reports, the study’s finding was that puberty blockers don’t help the children’s mental health. Nypost.com In essence, the “truth” of the study will damage the political movement pushing transgender issues. The blocked study’s truth, if employed to implement medical policy and procedure, would take away power from leftist causes.

Conclusion

In sum, critical thinking is an essential life skill. The news content cannot be viewed in isolation. Likewise, societal leaders’ opinions, facts and views cannot be viewed in isolation. Rather, when one looks for consistency, leftism stumbles over the truth when it is seeking power.

Additionally, context is essential in critical thinking. One must hear from a multitude of sources to formulate an opinion. One must be ready to dismiss the positions of those who only accept the truth when it served their political advantage.
