You shall rise before a venerable person and you shall respect the elderly,
leviticus 19:32
in san francisco, california, a 70 year old asian woman was beaten and kicked in the head. during daytime, in her apartment complex, she was assaulted by teens. the brutal assault was caught on video. the vicious kick to the head delivered was sheer evil. reporting, post accident, has noted that her assailants were four juveniles. dailymail.com
it is reportedly an 11 year old, a 13 year old, a 14 year old and an 18 year old, are suspects in this assault. foxbangor.com
with this story, we must ask, “who’s at home?”
who do these teens live with? who is their guardian? are they receiving any religious or moral education at home? do they go to church or temple? what type of schooling do they attend? are they taught in schools to respect the elderly?
this incident is not in insolation. teens have been accused of murder of an elderly man in philadelphia. that tragic crime was also caught on video.
there is the need for both government officials and the media to shed light on what is going on in these households. this assault, as well as the murder in philadelphia deserve considerable attention. they need to be studied and analyzed as to the dynamics that lead to unprovoked attacks on the elderly.
judeo christian values decry the conduct occurring. respect for the elderly is a thousands of year old concept that is being lost in a generation. government leaders and officials who fail to appreciate that a concept almost as old as civilization is being eviscerated must be brought to the reckoning that their leadership is worthless. either they need to act in a forceful matter to restore values or they should simply walk away and let others do the work to restore a just society.
be well!!
